From community shows and carnivals to markets and temporary events, Fairfield Showground requires flexible and reliable power distribution to support a changing range of vendors, attractions and activities.
Fairfield City Council required a robust and practical electrical distribution solution capable of supporting these unique operational demands. With multiple outlets, temporary power requirements and the need for future expansion, the solution needed to provide flexibility, safety and reliable performance while meeting the relevant requirements of AS/NZS 3002.
B&R Enclosures worked closely with Fairfield City Council to develop a purpose-designed solution using the Infinity 3G Modular Switchboard system.
The solution comprises a 1270 x 670mm switchgear section, bayed to a 670 x 670mm outlet section, mounted on a 200mm plinth.
“Designed for flexibility and safety”
One of the key considerations was ensuring the switchboard could accommodate the operational requirements of a busy showground. The design allows the first board to be isolated while keeping the remaining boards operational, providing greater flexibility during events and maintenance activities.
Safety and compliance with AS/NZS 3002 were key priorities, with provisions including a dedicated tie-off bar for extension leads and brush strips to assist with cable entry.
The arrangement also separates the switchgear from the outlet section, helping to simplify access while restricting vendor access to the switchgear. This ensures that if a circuit trips, it cannot simply be reset without the underlying issue first being investigated and rectified.
Importantly, the design allows for future expansion without requiring an upgrade to the main board, providing Fairfield City Council with a solution that can adapt as the site’s electrical requirements evolve.
From Design to Integration – B&R’s involvement extended beyond the supply of the enclosure and switchboard. The team provided onsite design assistance and line diagram development, working through the requirements with the customer to develop a compliant and practical solution.
B&R also provided electrical integration, ensuring the final assembly was designed around the specific requirements of the site.
Technical Support That Made the Difference – The ability to provide onsite technical support and develop a solution tailored to the project was a key reason B&R was selected. Fairfield City Council was required to obtain multiple quotations, and B&R was able to offer a compliant solution while providing the design support and technical expertise required to move the project forward.
The result is a flexible Infinity 3G solution designed specifically around the operational demands of Fairfield Showground, providing safe, reliable power distribution today while allowing the site to expand and adapt into the future.
