10 reasons why you should design your data center with Ausrack ID
With Ausrack ID you can:
1. Design a rack configuration for your data center.
Ausrack ID is the only online tool of its kind that allows you to design a rack configuration for any project large or small. The program is particularly useful for designing multiple racks for data center applications, where each rack requires equipment to be installed in a specific location.
2. Access your work anywhere anytime.
As long as you have access to the web, you can work on new or saved projects anywhere and at anytime, saving you time and money. You can work on individual racks or a selection of racks for your data center.
3. Design racks with ease using a simple interface and drag and drop techniques.
Ausrack ID can be described as a blank workspace in which you build a rack configuration. Starting from the left hand side of the interface and working your way through each of the three menus, you begin by selecting your rack, components and equipment in succession, then dragging and dropping items into the rack diagram.
To help select and identify components, a useful information panel has been devised so that you can mouse over any item in this panel to instantly see its description and position in the rack.
4. Configure your rack confidently using our built in design assistance.
With Ausrack ID’s built in design assistance, you can be sure that your design will work. As soon as you select your rack and begin configuring your design, a guide is activated and appears as an overlay assisting you in the correct placement of your equipment. This provides you with instant visual feedback when you are designing.
5. Personalise your design to suit your needs.
You can personalise your design by choosing the type of rack, cladding, rack accessories and equipment to suit your data center application. Using the rack components and equipment menu you simply select your rack from a drop down menu, then drag and drop your accessories and equipment into the rack.
Choices of rack cabinets include Wall Mounted Racks, Patch/Open/Lab Racks Network Frames, Network Cabinets, Server Frames and Server Cabinets.
You can also personalise your design by selecting server and network equipment from leading companies such as IBM, HP, Dell, Apple and Panduit, or you can specify your own equipment with easy to use configurable items.
6. Seek help with online tutorials.
If you get stuck whilst designing, don’t worry. Online video tutorials featuring various FAQ will guide you step by step through Ausrack ID. If you need help with anything not currently featured online, you can request a new tutorial and B&R will introduce it to the help menu. Whatever the situation, Ausrack ID gives you the confidence to design a rack cabinet to suit your data room needs.
7. Produce a bill of materials and request a quote.
Working out exactly what you need to buy for a new data centre or an upgrade can be a lengthy task. With Ausrack ID you can print a bill of materials for each design, reducing purchasing process delays. The list includes items such as the rack system, rack accessories and all server or network equipment. By creating and saving your design in one convenient location you can also request a quote on your rack configuration and receive it in minutes, making it easy to estimate costs right from the beginning of your data center project.
8. Organise your work in a secured personal save area.
Working on a large project such as a data center, requires a great deal of organisation. Therefore it is important to plan ahead and know exactly how each rack will fit into the overall design of the data room. With Ausrack ID, you can save an individual rack or create a folder or ‘room’ for a selection of racks. With your own save area you can even work on multiple projects at the same time. With the ability to access your design quickly, where ever you are, you can store files for retrieval or revision at a later date. With your own personal login your designs are safe, secure and viewable only by you.
9. Communicate your rack design to other parties.
Communicating your design or plan to relevant parties can be a frustrating and difficult task. With Ausrack ID you can print an easy to read diagram of the rack cabinet and installed equipment, as well as a description of each item and its exact RU location. Each individual design can easily be identified by giving them rack and project names. To improve your communication, you can even write specific notes or instructions for the installation of each design.
10. Make last minute changes quickly and easily.
Whenever you design a rack system for your data center there are always last minute changes, due to cabling difficulties, additional equipment configurations etc. Normally any changes made to the final project are not updated on the original plan, but with Ausrack ID you can quickly and easily change the design to reflect last minute decisions.
