Senior Purchasing Officer - QLD

The Position
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Purchasing Officer to join our busy team at Heathwood (near Forest Lake).
This is a great 'hands on' opportunity for a mechanically minded Purchasing Officer with approximately 5 years experience in a medium to large manufacturing environment to take the next step in their career.
Reporting to the Supply Manager, you will be willing to 'roll up your sleeves'; and take on the day to day purchasing tasks ensuring accuracy and quality are of the highest level.
Responsibilities will include:
Procuring overseas supplied materials, including non steel items used in manufacturing
Liaising with suppliers to ensure accurate and timely delivery of goods
Ensuring consumable supplies are sourced, purchased and maintained to support manufacturing requirements
Communicate across business units to ensure supply issues are raised and dealt with appropriately
Regularly monitor and maintain supplier agreements to ensure best service and quality products
Work with and assist in the coordination of subcontractors as required
Inventory analysis and assistance with stock takes as required
Company expansion will see further development in the role over time; hence this role will develop in responsibility.
The Person
You will have several years experience in a similar role within the manufacturing industry and have a strong mechanical aptitude. You will be highly focussed on the quality of your work with a genuine passion for accuracy and an ability to manage your own time. Your excellent communication skills and ability to maintain a sense of humour will ensure success when working across varied business units.
In addition to the above, we are also looking for:
• High level administrative skills
• Proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel
• Exposure to international sourcing
• Experience working with KanBans
• Experience with an ERP system (preferred)
